Cool beans! I'm going to try to finish it off tonight if I can (what can I say, I'm nuts ^^;; and then I ought to at least sleep on it to make sure nothing sounds funky when I'm awake and conscious again, because upon reflection it'd be pretty bad of me to get the first draft done and then think "oh hey wait, I'd rather say it this way" and you'd already had that page done or something.
I'll mail you a text file when I get it done! ^__^
Oh yeah -- and I found Kaori Yuki's snail-mail address in the BetsuHana, they have people write to her c/o the publisher. If people wanted to start a thread for stuff they wanted to say, I could try translating it into Japanese and throw it in the physical mail... ^^;;; (would definitely use my word processor because my handwriting's bad enough in English, I'm sure it's completely terrible in kanji...)

Yep, it's in Japan. I've been trying to figure out which region -- my best guess is a "suburb" (so to speak) of Tokyo or Kyoto because of the combination of metropolitan area, night life with (ahem) distinctive trades for sale, and a vocal and irritated PTA association (no kidding).
Plus the dialect's much more modern and urbanized than Count Cain's version of Japanese... for obvious reasons (^^; but anyway, our Japanese teacher would look at us very strangely if we used 'uchi' for I or started ending our sentences in 'jan' in class, and I didn't hear it in Osaka so I know it's not Osaka-ben, but I wasn't around Tokyo long enough to pick up distinctive dialect nuances there...
I'm having SOOOOOOO much fun deciding how to render different characters' voices into different brands of colloquial English to suit their personalities... ^___~ I've got about 40 of the 68 pages translated.
If I ever do decide to try for a job translating manga professionally, I think this one's going to be my portfolio piece. I'm really stretching my vocabulary and my sense of mapping nuances from one language to another, and I'm really happy with how it's turning out so far...
Speaking of which: Has anybody expressed particular interest in being the editor for this one? If so, would it be helpful to get a chunk of the translation to start with? The thing's almost 70 pages long in total... on the other hand, if y'all can wait until Sunday I'll probably have the whole thing done by then, so I guess there's no big rush. I'm just itching to share it with people! ^__^;;;
And hey, Carole -- is there any way I could get a Zip file of the scans with the kanji still imbedded? The reason I'm asking is that Sailor Bacon over at AL.com is wanting manga scans to test people's romanization abilities from, and while we couldn't use this for his translation test since there's going to be a translation online soon, we COULD use it for his romanization testing if I just white out the furigana, and it'd save a whole heck of a lot of scanning time... ^^;;;
I've got about five or six other random chunks of phonebook manga I want to scan for his translation test, but for romanization, since I've already been through this with a fine-tooth comb, it'd make fact-checking a lot faster...

Wow you guys are so fast! With this speed we can read it soon! Yay!
Hmm what if we start a common mail to Kaori Yuki? Everyone writes a little about himself and than we put it together. I think it is something spezial, because we are people all over the world and find or met each other in this great message board community. I hope we stay good chances to get an answer. I think it would actually be nice to write the thing in English. ^^ (At least have the envelope be written in English) Like I said, mangaka love knowing they have foreign readers, and I know that Kaori Yuki has this whole obsession with the English language. I'm sure fanmail written in English would be read by her more than the everyday Japanese fanmail she gets.
Of course, you could write Japanese in there as well once you caught her attention. ^^
Just a suggestion though!
Oh yes...and Ellone definitely sounds right to me. For one thing, it's a real name... ~.^

^^;;;; Didn't get done last night... for one thing, there were 30 pages left to translate... anyhow, will try hard to have it done before I go back to work Monday but I can't do it today because I'm helping friends reinstall their OS and get their computer running again.
The group fan letter thing sounds like a cool idea to me though... ^__^

That's OK if you didn't get it done
Did you know my private e-mail on where to send the translation to?
-
Ellone...*thinks of FF8's Ellone*...well I'll stick with that name. But Leghorn?!?!?
-
I am SUCH a bleedin' moron...
it's 3 a.m., but Blood Hound is translated. ^^;;;;
Anyway, I can't make up my mind whether it'd be better to put all the translator's notes at the front of the story or to try to tuck them into the story, so I may make two files -- one with the notes tucked into the actual translation, the other a collection of the notes -- and I'll let Carole figure out where she wants to put 'em...
Hey Carole, yeah, you're right, I don't think I have your email address, and I don't know if I can attach files to PMs here on the board -- so could you PM me your email address...? ^__^;;

XD XD XD XD Yay! XD XD XD
You're amazing Risu-chan! Translating so much in such a short time! o____0 *speachless* Now there's only the editing to go! XD *waaa~~* Good luck with that Carole Ann! ^________^
I'm so thrilled! I've been dying to read this "Blood Hound" ever since I first heard of it! Thank you, thank you and thank you so much for scanlating! XD

It's a really fun story, much less depressing than what's been going on lately in the Cain-verse; I'd imagine this is her version of an antidepressant, I'm sure there's only so much tragedy one person can write without going "auugh need a break!" I'm looking forward to hearing people's reactions too! ^__^
Go go Carole-chan go! ^__~ (speaking of which, I ought to get around to translating at least the Go Go Oscar-kun doujinshi bit one of these days, it was just too darn funny... ^^;;; too many projects! @_@ Why are there so many interesting things that need doing on this planet? And why do I find large batches of them all the time? Anyhow... ^^;;
